The Story of George Gina & Lucy is an almost unbelievable one. It is about Mr. Neuhaus, his wife Nicole Bailly and their friends Oliver Bruhn. In 2004 they design Nylon-Bags with their Design-Company Departmentgreen. Trendy, practicable, washable and payable (50 to 100 EUR). They produce about 1500 pieces in China. The Bags are distinctive with the big carabiner and the even bigger Logo.
Nicoles Father owns 10 Boutiques (Who in Germany does not know Bailly?). He places the Bags in the shop windows and pulls strings. After just a few weeks the Collection is sold. Three months later first models are auctioned for double of its prices. 400 000 pieces of GG&L were sold in 2006, 700 000 are planned for 2007.
Until today scarcely anybody knows who is behind the Label and the founders make sure this will remain. A hessian history for sure is more boring than rumors about George, Gina & Lucy, pretending to come from the USA. Once the Bags shall be seamed by US-Inmates, once Dieter Bohlen has his finger in the pie. Presumably there is a very similar Logo existing, the one of Blue System. And wasn't there a Pop-Band?
Another rumor the three founders launch by theirselves: Nicoles grandaunt LUCY fell in love with GEORGE in Los Angeles. When she came back only a Bag full of Memories remained. And: Her ImaGINAtion.
How the name really was founded remains as a secret.
