By Evelyn A. Teppner CEO / Owner of RunAwayBag.com | | Dear Readers,
the Financial Crisis did not stop at Milano - purportedly.
I did not recognize too much of it. If there is someone recognizing then it is the Models themselves, who earn less fees (only about 9.500 EUR per day, not 10.000 EUR). And maybe the Insider of the Labels recognize, as the Orders for next season are missing. But this might not be as unwelcome as it seems: It is a wonderful excuse for the bad new collection...
Here are the Highlights: DSquared2 was a great surprise, especially for me as a Dressage Equestrian. The Models of Dean and Dan Caten walked over a red carpet which was placed onto green grass. They presented precious Outfits of Riding and Hunting-Scene.
The Models of Dolce & Gabbana mutated to Snow Bunnies and walked on a snowcovered Catwalk. It was hard to watch as we here in Germany are still facing the winter and awaiting the Summer unpatiently. We were hardly reminded on coming x-mas 2009 with all that white knit wear.
Versace presented Glam and Rock very stylish in the 80s, all very loud in colour and material. Versace is not made for all Ladies kind, maybe like all the other Labels, but it seems there is no Label at all where this is extremely transparent.
Interesting to see was Burbbery Prosum. Christopher Bailey as Creative Director of Burberry is not even 40 years young and orientated his Show very strongly on the upper nobility. Especially at the young you expect too wilde, however, here everything seemed to be perfect. Wonderful!
Giorgio Armani, the oldest Star-Designer I know (75) - if you ignore Karl Lagerfeld, who does not break the secret of his age and covers his hands with gloves - of course only due to it is soooo stylish and not for the reason to identify his age... So: This time Giorgio Armani did not show any trouser suits. Instead of this Signore Armani showed a mixture of Eveningwear, Looks for After-Work-Parties and -Cocktails, Dinners, Business-Clothes and Balls.
My favourite was Prada. That was real Art. Basically Prada showed wearable Fashin, clear and distinct forms with noble colour accents on white, creme and black. Maybe we will soon see a seducable Handbag. It is time for Prada to get back to the times of 2001 to 2003. Unfortunately I always lose appetite when having a look at the last bag-collections. No Ideas, no Inventions, only boredom. And just expensive coloured snake leather does not make a good Luxury Bag.
Wait - in a few weeks our new Models will surprise you hopefully.
Yours truly, Evelyn A. Teppner March 2009
