Louis Vuitton was born on 4th of August 1821 in Cons-le-Sannier and died on 27th of February 1892.

1854 he founded the luggage company Louis Vuitton in Paris. In the meantime Louis Vuittion belongs to the luxury brands enterprise LVHM: Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton S. A. and is the main brand. Vuitton moved away in 1835 from his hometown Anchay, Jura, France. Two Years later he reached Paris and started as an apprentice boy for the luggage manufacturer Monsieur Marechal.

The Company is THE luxury brand and is often cited in tandem with Rolex, Hermès or Cartier. Louis Vuitton is well known for its Monogramm Canvas Pattern with the signet LV.

Canvas is the Material which is used by Louis Vuitton. Canvas is finish worked consolidated sailcloth which is extremely rugged, even for luggage. The (Oversea-)Cases are considered as collector's items. The more stickers are on the cases, f.g. Tansatlantic Passages, the older the luggage, the more expensive they are. 30 000 EUR per Case and even more, this is not unusual, however the cases are very rare and you only find them in the worldwide 300 company owned stores. You will not find any LV-Bag in the retailers - only exclusive.

The Companie's Name LVMH is composed of some of the most important brands belonging to the affiliated group: Louis Vuitton, Moët et Chandon (Champagner) and Hennessy (Cognac). All together there are more than 50 luxury brands belonging to LVMH, the world leader the of luxury goods industry.

For sure Louis Vuitton never thought about this huge success his bags have - and never imagined a bag to borrow!
